What Is Christian Science Nursing?
Christian Science nurses care for the practical, daily needs of Christian Scientists who are relying on God and Christian Science treatment for spiritual healing through prayer and the study of Christian Science, and have engaged a Christian Science practitioner for prayerful support.

Who Can Call For A Christian Science Nurse?
Anyone working with a Christian Science practitioner for healing can call upon a Christian Science nurse for care.
The Christian Science nurse will assess the need at no cost, and if they take the case, they will ask the patient to sign a contract which confirms the Scope of Services and nursing care rate.

All Christian Science nurses in South Africa are receiving training from Le Verger Christian Science Nursing Education and are practising Christian Science nursing under mentorship.

Accommodation
On occasions it is not practical for a patient to receive Christian Science nursing care at home. In such cases alternative accommodation suitable for Christian Science nursing care can be arranged somewhere convenient within South Africa
Care Association has access to rental cottages and private accommodation is also offered at Knole Park in Kwa-Zulu Natal to fulfil this need.

Financial Aid
We believe that Christian Scientists deserve to have the care of their choice and conviction, and funding is available to relieve the patient of concern for the cost of care and focus on healing.
The Christian Science Nursing Support Service (CSNSS) and the Christian Science Care Association, (Cape) – also known as Cape Care – both assist their members financially where and when necessary.
Cape Care help with paying carer invoices anywhere in the country and CSNSS financially assists paying for Christian Science nursing invoices.
Membership of CSNSS and Cape Care is open to all South African residents who are members of
The Mother Church, and/or a Branch church or Society, or an informal group recognised by The Mother Church.
Membership fees for both CSNSS and Cape Care are a minimum of R100 per annum.

Please ask your Christian Science nurse, or the CSNSS/Cape Care Financial Aid administrator for a financial aid application form – whether it’s for financial assistance for Christian Science nursing or carer fees.
